Bush, Bird Flu & Forced Quarantine

President Bush and Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt met with leaders of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry October 7 about their role in the prevention of an influenza pandemic.
The World Health Organization has confirmed 116 human cases of bird flu and 60 deaths since December 2003.
Why haven't we known about this bird flu before now, if the WHO reported about it in 2003.

We have heard of the bird flu, practically every other month since 2003. I've amassed about two dozen papers on it (I was contemplating it as a disaster novel). They have been talking about a pandemic since they started killing birds in China in 2003. The pictures were all over the news, but more than once they got overtaken by mad cow. You need to watch FOXNews more oftern! :-)
